The mark of a true parliamentarian and representative of the people is the pursuit and achievement of the happiness, good and welfare of those being represented.
Over the years, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has continued to display this zeal towards his constituents in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta state; demonstrating that the essence of true statesmanship is in seeking the good of others rather than the self.On Saturday, May 15, 2021, Hon. Elumelu, again, put smiles on the faces of his people as he endowed 350 of his constituents with various empowerment items worth about N300 million.
At the ceremony graced by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, at the Cenotaph Asaba, the empowerment items, including 107 tricycle, 148 motorcycles, 90 deep freezers and 111 electric generating sets were handed over to the beneficiaries, whose joy knew no bounds.
Moreover, the manner with which the people freely interacted with the Minority Leader, at the event, shows his popularity as well as strong bond with his constituents.Hon. Elumelu’s empowerment and development scorecard shows an impressing performance including directly employing over 150 persons as personal assistants on youth and women affairs as well as facilitating the employment of over 40 persons in different federal ministries, agencies and parastatals and recommending over 200 candidates for employment.
This is in addition to facilitating a CBN Special loan for 150 persons in the first batch with another 196 persons in the second batch, making a total of 346 persons as well as facilitating the conditional Cash transfer scheme for 337 persons.
Others are the N-Power program for 251 persons; a Federal Ministry of Water Resources empowerment programme for 79 persons, 335 beneficiaries for the Household feeding programme, 30 beneficiaries of Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty alleviation scheme as well as facilitating a capacity training programme for 200 youths and women in cassava and rice production, after which starter packs were provided for them.
Developmental projects facilitated by Hon. Elumelu for the benefit of his people include the ICT centers in Ogwashi Uku and Akukwu-Igbo, vocational centers in Ubulu-Unor and Asaba, civic centers for Ogwuashi- uku, Ubulu-uku, Obomkpa and Ibusa, Town Halls for Obior, Ubulu-Okiti, Ewulu and Ugbodu, constructions of Bishop Dibie Road in Agbor, drainage in Ogboli Road Ibusa, construction of the Onicha-uku-Idumuje-Unor Road; ongoing construction at FMC Asaba annex as well as rehabilitation of the government hospital at Onicha- Olona.
Others are the provision of 820 stands of solar street lights which were distributed across communities in the Four Local Government Areas within Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in addition to various direct interventions in the area of healthcare, education, vocations and other palliatives for the people.It is imperative to state that Hon.
