The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Candido has identified sports development as an alternative to sustain unity and peace across the country.
He stated this yesterday, during novelty football match between AMAC political office holders and the civil servants as part of activities to mark his 5 years in office.
Candido said that through sports people will be more united and create job for themselves, especially the youths.
He said, “young people should embrace football so that they will have a means of feeding themselves, with the sports activities the country will be more united”
The chairman explained that it has become a tradition in the council that after every 12 months in the life of his led administration, staff always come together to do some exercise.
“We are 5th year in office, we have a year to go is better to collect ourselves and thank God through this football exercise”.
However, the AMAC political office holders won the game with 2 goals against their opponent, AMAC civil servants.
In the first half, the Chairman Abdullahi Candido scored the first goal while Suleiman Alhassan Gwagwa, the APC candidate for the AMAC forthcoming election scored in the second half of the game, making it 2 goals.
Other participants while fielding questions from journalists after the game expressed joy over the exercise and pledged their commitment to sports development.
