The attack reportedly occurred around midnight on Monday when armed men stormed the area, fired gunshots to scare residents and abducted five persons.

The secretary of the local Joint Task Force (JTF), Abuammar Abdullahi, said the attackers fled towards a nearby bush.

He explained that one elderly woman was later found in the forest after she was reportedly abandoned because she could not keep pace with the kidnappers.

The wife of the house owner was also discovered hours later, after she was left behind by the fleeing gunmen.

The remaining victims, according to sources, are two boys and their aunt.

Residents, alongside JTF members who immediately mobilised, trailed the attackers and succeeded in arresting one suspect.

Abdullahi said the elderly woman later identified the suspect as one of the kidnappers.

He was subsequently handed over to security personnel.

The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and investigations are ongoing.

It could be recalled that communities around Millennium City, including Danhono II and Keke B, have in recent months experienced repeated night attacks, raising concerns among residents over worsening insecurity in the area.
