FCT polls: Crack in APC widens as followers split

Despite late minute moves by the national leadership of the ruling All Progressioves Congress (APC) to resolve the crisis in the Federal Capital Territory chapter of the party, following he disagreement that trailed the party’s primaries ahead of the 2022 FC Council eleceion, cracks in the party have widened as stakeholders have split into camps.

The party had about two months ago held its primaries in all the Area Councils, but INEC has neither publish the candidates’ names nor announce it, which is igniting crisis within the party.

Following the development, it was gathered that the candidates for Abaji Area Council and Abuja Municipal Area Council ,AMAC, who were announced after the primary by the electoral Committee have been replaced.

The party has suspended the state secretary, Angama Hashimu, Bala Madaki over alleged anti-party activities, conspiracy, forgery.

In Abaji, Abudallahi Loko was earlier announced as the winner, but he has been replaced, also in AMAC, Suleiman Alhassan Gwagwa has been replaced by Murtala Usman Krish.

With the conflicting signals in the party most of the followers especially the executives have switched over to several camps.

However, the candidate who emerged in Kuje Area Council, Hamidu Gaube had resulted to the suspension of Godwin Peyo by the exco, who has since dumped APC for the PDP.

Similarly, the AMAC chairman, Abdullahi Candido, has been suspended by his Jiwa ward along with the ward leader, Bala Madaki, over alleged ant-party activities.
