The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa state, CP Bola Longe, said 18year Musa ‘M’ is currently cooling off in the Police cell for allegedly raping a 13 year old girl and stabbing a passerby who came to rescue her.
CP Longe made this disclosure while parading the alleged culprit, alongside 41 other suspected criminals at the state Command Headquarters in Lafia, on Wednesday.
The CP explained that the father of the victim Mr Isah reported the case at ‘D’ Division, Lafia on 22/05/2021 about 3:45pm.
The incident was said to have happened the same day, at a sugarcane plantation around a stream at Tudun Amba road, Lafia local government area of the state, while the victim was returning from rice mill-B.A.D area, after hawking sachet water.
Suddenly, one Musa ‘M’ 18yrs came out of his farm and started chasing her with a stick and she feel down eventually and he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
“While in the act, she screamed and it attracted the attention of a passerby (Musa Iliyasu) who came to her rescue and apprehended the suspect.
“While taking the suspect to the police, he grabbed a knife and stabbed Musa Iliyasu on the hand and escaped,” he added.
Longe said, upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives swiftly went after the suspect and apprehended him.
According to the CP, the suspect has confessed to the commission of the crime and investigation is ongoing at state criminal and Investigation Department, Lafia. Upon conclusion, the suspect will be charged to court.
CP Bola Longe lauded the public for consistently collaborating with the police to ensure criminals are brought to book as he charged them to sustain the trend and be more vigilant.
