Domak Global Foundation donates toilets to FCT school

Dr Kingsley Azonobi, the Chairman, Domak Global Foundation, has inaugurated and donated 13 units of toilet to Government Secondary school, (GSS) Tudunwada, Abuja.

Azonobi, during the inauguration on Tuesday in Abuja, said that he took it upon himself to ensure befitting conveniences for the students especially the females.

Azonobi, an alumnus of GSS Tudunwada (1997) said his interest to build the toilets was piqued when he visited to see some of the challenges bedevilling the school.

According to him, I became a student of this school in 1991 and graduated in 1997; I visited the school and I saw so many things were not right.

“The major challenge I saw was toilets; there is no single toilet in the school for a population of about 1,000 plus students; it became worrisome.

“I took it upon myself and discussed with my (members of my) set and they gave the permission to go ahead with the project.

“It was not easy to carry out the project as I am just a private worker and not in the government sector.

“But, it is just the passion to build the toilet, especially for the female students.
“I couldn’t imagine what the female students go through when trying to find conveniences for themselves.”

He advised the school administration to allow investors to invest in order to reposition public schools in the FCT.

“It is because of the inability (inefficiencies)of government schools that makes private schools look like the solution; Private school isn’t the solution.

“I want to advise the government to invest more money in education and the welfare of the students like what we are doing today,” Azonobi said.

The Executive Chairman, Secondary Education Board (SEB), Mr Yahaya Muhammad commended the efforts of the Foundation Chairman and the entire 1997 set for the project.

Muhammad noted that no organisation or government institutions brought Nigerians together like the school settings.

According to him, the FCT is a mini Nigeria and the schools in the territory portray the unique diversity of the country.

“I graduated in 1987; we give thanks to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the FCT minister who thinks (believes that) a square peg should be fixed in a square hole.

“The minister, having been in the FCT and having been groomed by the system, said come back and give back to the society.

“We thank the FCT minister whose vision has brought this transformation we are seeing now in FCT schools.

“By and large, the issue of conveniences in our schools is indeed very challenging.

“Today our brother, a product of this school, has decided to give us this structure you see here.”

“Infact I couldn’t help but forward news of the structure to the Minister who directed immediately that the commendation letter be sent to you,” Muhammad said.

The Principal, GSS Tudunwada, Mr Akor Sunday who commended Azonobi for the gesture, said the school would put them to good use and ensure proper maintenance of the toilets.

“This convenience has been given to the school; it is our prayer to keep it in good use.

“At the same time, we are looking to our alumni; at all times, come back and do something for the school.

“Especially the school hall; the School hall does not present the beauty of the school at all.

“I appreciate the board chairman, Domak Global Foundation and the entire 1997 set,” Sunday said..
