Felistus rues AITEO Cup exit

…Promises more NNL goals

Gateway of Abeokuta messmering left winger,  Ikechukwu Felistus says he is disappointed with his team’s elimination from the round of 8 of the on-going AITEO Cup but says he is more determined to help the team gain promotion to the country’s elite League.


Felistus who is spending his three years loan at the club from Lagos side Depros FC was instrumental to his team qualifying for the round of 16 in the most glamorous football competition in the country. His goal ensured that League leaders, Akwa United were sent out of the tournament. 


He also scored a spectacular goal against Wikki Tourists in the round of 16 and netted  another one against Bayelsa United before they bowed out in the round of 8 through penalty kick.


According to the 21 year old  player who has the fastest goal in the history of NNL during the 2018/2019 season, his experience at the oldest football tournament in the country will enable him do well in the remaining matches at the lower division as the Abeokuta based side eye promotion to the elite League.


” I’m really disappointed that we could not make it to the  semi -final but the most important thing was that we did well and I scored some important goals which enabled my team get to the knockout stage.


” My target now is to concentrate on our remaining matches in the Nigerian National League where I hope to help my team qualify not only for the play- offs but the Premier League”, he stressed.


He further explained that he’s looking forward to improve on his form in order to attract suitors from both local and foreign club sides just as he assured  that he will continue to put in his best for his club.


” Right now, my main target  is to play for either one of the big teams in the country or a European clubside which is the dream of any player and I believe my form will stand me out”, he concluded.
