APC Threatens To Expel Two Federal Lawmakers For Holding Parallel Congress In Kano

From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

The leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano has threatened to expel two House of Representatives members for going against the concensus decision of the party in the just concluded Local Government congresses across the state.

Honourable Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada, representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency and Honourable Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, representing Dawakin Tofar/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency, have been blacklisted for expulsion by the party leadership for claiming to have organized a parallel congress in Kano, last Saturday.

The AUTHORITY reports that the duo have engaged in a running battle with the party leadership in recent times, serving as dissenting voices against collective decisions of the party leadership and major stakeholders.

They had purportedly organized a parallel congress, a development that  has attracted the wrath of the party leadership in Kano which has threatened to expel them from the ruling party if they do not reverse their actions.

The two lawmakers have, however, insisted that their congresses were genuine as they claimed it followed laid down rules in the party constitution.

Reacting to the development,  the APC secretary in Kano, Mr. Ibrahim Zakari Sarina, described the action of the two lawmakers as, “null and void,” insisting that the party is set to take disciplinary actions against them.

According to him,  “what Shaaban and Jobe did was null and void because it has gone against the principles of party elections.

“If Ibrahim Sharada and Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe insist on standing on the parallel congresses, we have no option but to expell them from the party.

“When the congresses were organized, the party leadership from the Headquarters sent Congress organizing Committee and when they arrived, they openly spelled out to every interesting true party member that they were in Kano.

“The congress organizing committee  naturally stayed at the recognized Party Secretariat where they conducted their activities and they witnessed the Consensus Congress in Kano; and they are already back in Abuja. So, anything else will be vehemently rejected, and will be followed with stiff punishment.”

He warned  that any attempt by the two lawmakers to cause chaos in Kano APC will be resisted, adding that, “we are waiting for them to make the mistake of sending their illegal congress reports to Abuja; then, we will take appropriate action against them.”

The AUTHORITY recalls that Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada, a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, was recently suspended by his  Ward leadership of APC for engaging in anti-party activities.
