SWDC committee kicks off screening of presidential nominees

The Senate Committee on South West Development Commission (SWDC) has on Tuesday, commenced the screening of presidential nominees for positions of Chairman, Managing Director and the board members in the commission.

Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), Chairman of the committee, emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity in the discharge of their duties.

During the screening process, Senator Akintunde expressed confidence in the committee’s success, thanking members for their presence despite being on recess. He noted that their presence signifies their commitment, interest, and belief in the Renewed Agenda of Mr President.

The Senator outlined the committee’s vision to provide adequate oversight functions for the good governance of the commission, with a focus on unlocking the potentials of the southwest region for economic growth and social capacity. He emphasized the need to address infrastructure deficits and create a business-friendly environment.

Senator Akintunde encouraged open dialogue, mutual respect, and collective decision-making throughout their journey. He stressed the importance of humility, determination, and shared vision in achieving their goals.

The Senator expressed confidence in having the right people, purpose, and convention, and thanked members for their participation. The screening process aims to identify the best candidates for the positions of Chairman, Managing Director, and Board Members of the SWDC.
