Over 2000 women and youths in Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency on Thursday got a life-changing experience when Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Alhassan Ado Doguwa empowered them with a raw cash of N70 million and other items to enable them set up businesses that will make them self-reliant.
Other items donated to the beneficiaries by the lawmaker who is also Sardaunan Rano, representing them at the House of Representatives include 500 electrical sewing machines, 500 manual sewing machines, as well as four trailers of fertilizers that were distributed to farmers in the agrarian constituency.
The empowerment programme which was anchored by the First Lady of Kano state, Hajiya Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Gamduje took place at Tudun Wada Local Government secretariat.
Speaking during the programme, the First Lady, commended all the efforts of Doguwa towards alleviating the sufferings of the people of his Constituency.
Doguwa who was soaked with emotions and tears of joy appreciated members of his constituency for consistently voting for him for six consecutive times, to represent them at the House of Representatives, while promising never to fail them.
According to him, “I am here to thank you my people who have successively voted for me six times since 1992.
“I want to express my special thanks to you. We have come to empower 2000 women and youth as we have always done every 35 – 40 days in this constituency.
“We are going to distribute N70m, four trailers of fertilizer, 31 assorted cars, 500 electrical sewing machines, 500 manual swing machines and 500 motor cycles.”
He also added that he dedicated all the successes he has recorded as a lawmaker to his late father.
However, there was a mild drama among the popular politicians present at the event when the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo (Commander) teased Honourable Doguwa over the cash donation.
Garo, a major gubernatorial aspirant in the 2023 general election in Kano had teased Doguwa saying, “I hope this empowerment is going to be real and cash down not promissory.”
Doguwa while collecting the microphone instructed his aides to bring the bags containing the N70 million, which was presented before the First Lady for immediate distribution to the beneficiaries.
The AUTHORITY reports that the First Lady commissioned a number of projects within the Constituency before the empowerment programme.
The Chief Imam of Tudun Wada Local Government Area performed the open prayer during the elaborate event.
Others who spoke during the event include the chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government Area, Honourable Mamadu Hudu; Vice Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kano state; APC chieftain, Senator Mas’ud El-Jubril Doguwa; APC Woman Leader, Hajiya Fatima Abdullahi; Hajiya Hauwa Musa Amir; APC Welfare Secretary, Alhaji Sule Lawan Shuwaki.
Others are Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Transport, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar Bullet; District Head of Doguwa, Alhaji Labaran Abdullahi; District Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Muhammad Abba Ibrahim; Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo; APC state chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas; Emir of Rano, Ambassador Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa who have the Vote of Thanks, among others.
All the speakers during the event commended Honourable Alhassan Ado Doguwa for his kind gestures to the people of his Constituency.
