Christian legislators to hold national prayer over crisis in the country

By Gift Chapi Odekina

The Christian Legislators Fellowship of the National Assembly has disclosed that it will be playing host to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at its 11th edition of the National Prayer Breakfast, holding on Thursday as prayers are offered against insecurity and other challenges.

The group which made the disclosure at a media briefing, through its President, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha on Wednesday also said Guest Speaker at the event would be Bishop David Abioye of the Living Faith Church, Goshen Land, Nasarawa State.

According to the Senator, the event with the theme; Faith In Jesus Christ In Times of Trouble was intended to pray for Nigeria as a country, “and also to pray for our responsibilities as legislators”.

Fielding questions on the challenges of leadership in the country, Bwacha said as a group, “we’re non-partisan, but to pray for the country. Ours is to intercede because crisis does not recognize political party. The high cost food items does not know political parties, or classes of people”.

On the continuous prayers by leading religious groups without solution to the challenges facing Nigeria, the Senator said the group was though conversant with the position of the bible, to the effect that faith should be put to work, but however noted that he would not want to preempt what the year’s guest speaker may be talking on.

“The battle is not canal. It is spiritual, in pulling down strongholds. That is why it may appear that we are not doing things the way you may expect us to”, the lawmaker said.

Majority of participants in the event which begins 7am at the Senate’s Conference Room 022 on Thursday are expected to do so virtually.
