Nigerians calls for transparency ,inclusion in partnership with China

In what looks like an expression of anger , Nigerians have called for total transparency, integration and above all media inclusion in her partnership with China.

This was expressed by top media personalities during a town hall meeting at Raypower FM Abuja on Tuesday with the topic “The Implication of Chinese Media Partnership with Nigeria”.

Amongst the panelists were Charles Odenigbo, Director General , Centre for Media Law and Development, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche , the Chairman NUJ FCT, Prof Biodun Adeniyi ( Base university Abuja) and Mr Obiorah Ani.

The meeting was moderated by Dr.Amaechi Anakwue of Raypower FM Abuja.

In his opinion, the NUJ Boss , Abuja Chapter , Emmanuel Ogbeche frowned at crawling developmental system, despising the fact that we are a democracy state.

He said that the recent decline of America and European involvement in African development created an opportunity which china ceased with a yet to know interest.

He said china has not necessarily influenced our political system as it where, but has over the years used a soft approach system to penetrate into our systems thereby promoting her economic and cultural interest.

Mr Ogbeche was optimistic that total reliance on Chinese infrastructure and technology ought to be constantly examined as it may be a doom in disguise.

Barr . Charles Odenigbo in his own opinion said that most agreement between Nigeria and China has not included technologies, placement of Nigerians in high positions in Chinese companies.

He further stressed the need to adopt conflict resolution approaches, Media inclusion and above all the manner of individuals at the leadership corridor who because of their personal and political interest aren’t considerate in our different partnership agreements.

While speaking, Prof Biodun Adeniyi said the increasing partnership with China should not only be observed in fear of total dominance but there should also be a keen thoughts and consideration of the present and possible future relief and benefits of our partnership.

The academic don further stressed that the hand of fellowship can mean well for Africa and Nigeria but proper caution should be taken.
