The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday cleared all the six aspirants jostling for the governorship seat in the forthcoming Osun state governorship election.
While presenting its report to the party in Abuja, Mohammed Adoke, chairman of the Osun Screening Committee said that the party, was meticulous but diligent in handling the task to ensure that the poised to capture the party after the election.
“We have examined all the candidates; we have screened them in accordance with the constitution of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We have also looked at the party’s guidelines and constitution with the dictates of what is just and equitable.
“We have done our best bearing in mind that the screening process is the commencement of the process leading to the gubernatorial election which we are hopeful that as a party in opposition and in line with the cravings of Nigerians, that we will win the next election in Osun state”.
Receiving the report, National Organizing Secretary (NOS) of the party, Umar Bature on behalf of the party thanked the group for a job well done. He assured members of the committee that the party will be very diligent with the report and ensure that all aspirants are favourably considered according to the party’s constitution.
Other members of the committee include, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali; a former Governor of Plateau State, Fidelis Tapgun; a former member of the House of Representatives, Nnenna Ukeje and Rahman Owokoniran, who will serve as the panel’s secretary.
The Osun state aspirants that faced the committee include the party’s 2018 governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke; his nephew, Dele Adeleke; Akin Ogunbiyi, Sanya Omirin, Dotun Babayemi and Fatai Akinbade.
