The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Nasarawa State Secretariat, to improve the staff productivity, has organised one-day refresher workshop for members of staff which was held at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Keffi on Tuesday.
The workshop with the theme, “Towards Enhancing the Performance of Staff in NYSC Nasarawa State”, was an initiative of the State Coordinator, and organised to improve staff performance in the role of an inspector in administration as well as communication processes, within the scope of the scheme at the state level, especially in field operations.

In his opening remarks, the State Coordinator, Abdullahi Ahmad Jikamshi, urged the staff to participate optimally during the workshop as the topics have been designed to help improve their job schedules and understanding of the rudiments of the scheme in recent times.

Jikamshi reminded the staff that their ability to acquire more knowledge will help widen their horizon and enhance productivity. Speaking on the role of an Inspector, the State Coordinator dwelt extensively on ensuring the welfare, security and utilization of corps members; solid interactions with stakeholders; neat appearance of staff; enculturating Corps members in their host communities.

Representing the Director (HRM), Hajia Habiba Bappah, and the Deputy Director (Staff Welfare & Industrial Relations (HRM), Chief Chinwendu Chukwu, enjoined the staff members to put more efforts in ensuring the welfare of Corps members. They also encouraged staff to go through official documents such as NYSC Byelaws, NYSC Acts as well as official

publications/resolutions of the scheme, for effective dealings with Corps members and on the job.
Interestingly, while the workshop was ongoing, the Director-General, NYSC, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, who had come to inspect the SAED Centre under construction in Keffi Camp, commended the State Coordinator for the laudable initiative to retrain members of staff in State. “Human capacity development is critical to the success of any organisation”, the DG stated.

He further admonished members of staff to cherish their integrity, to take the refresher training seriously and avoid unethical practices that can tarnish their image and the image of the Scheme. He equally encouraged members of staff to always do what is right.
