2023: Tinubu begins consultation, meets IBB

Former Governor of Lagos state and national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, has commenced his presidential ambition consultations with a visit to former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida Rtd..

Tinubu who arrived at IBB’s hilltop residence at about 2.30pm on Thursday, went straight into a closed door meeting with the former military leader

The APC National Leader had informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intentions to run for the Presidency in 2023.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the former Governor of Lago state explained that he visited the former military Head of State to receive his blessings, adding also that he was in Niger State to sympathize with the state over its security challenges and decided to visit the elder statesman to receive his blessings.

He stated, “if you restrict my visit to this house that is it. Generally, I came to Niger State to commiserate with the Governor and the people of Niger State. And so, I can’t stop by without paying a courtesy call to the enigma General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Retired”.

On whether he got his blessings, the presidential candidate replied, ” he gave me his prayers. You want to know the outcome of the consultation? We are running a democracy.

” I took my decision voluntarily and I am running for the Presidency of the country, we are running a democracy, thank you very much and God bless you

“When I made the declaration, I told you that I am still consulting and I will consult as widely as possible,” he further added.
