Adamawa Electoral Commission fixes April 9 for LG poll

The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), has released the timetable for the conduct of local government elections.

The Commission in the timetable endorsed by its Executive-Chairman, Alh. Isa Shettima, fixed the election on Saturday, 9th April.

As part of activities for the successful conduct of the exercise, 24th January, 2022, has been slated for a meeting between the Commission  and Chairmen/Secretaries of the registered political parties at its state headquarters. 

Similarly, the Commission fixed14th to 19th, February for the political parties to conduct their primaries at the ward and LG level.

The timetable indicated that the establisment of state and LG screening committees/Inauguration by the commission is has been scheduled between 7th and 8th March, this year.
According to the electoral body, 14th to 16th March, has been set aside for the screening of candidates fielded by registered political parties, while 17th to 19th March, is for the display of the successfully-screened candidates by ADSIEC/Resident Electoral Officers(REO’s).

The commission designated 21st and 22nd of March is slated for receiving and considering petitions from aspirants adjudged not qualified to contest as well as screening/substitution of candidates where the need arises.

Election campaigns, according to Alh. Shettima, will kick start on the 23rd March to 8th April, while election will hold on the 9th April, adding that the results will be declared on the 10th April at each polling unit, ward, LG headquarters, and state-wide by the commission’s boss.

Shettima disclosed that April, 11th will be for the collection of Certificates of Return by the elected chairmen, Vice-Chairmen and Councillors, and issuance of certificates at Mubi, Yola, Numan and Ganye LGAs.

The ADSEIC boss further stated that the run-off elections will be carried out on the 16th April, 2022.
