By Chuks Oyema-Aziken

The Nigerian Army has intensified nationwide counter-terrorism operations, delivering a fresh wave of blows against terrorist and bandit networks across Kogi, Kaduna, and Sokoto States in intelligence-driven raids conducted within the last 24 hours.

In Kogi State, troops of the 12 Brigade, working alongside police operatives and local vigilantes, stormed suspected hideouts in Kakuma Ileteju/Origa and Ijumu communities. Two suspected terrorists were arrested during the operation. Security forces also recovered two motorcycles and chainsaw machines allegedly used in facilitating criminal activities.

In Kaduna State, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA apprehended a suspected terrorist in Afaka. Military sources revealed that the suspect reportedly fled a terrorist camp following internal disputes, providing valuable intelligence to ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.

In Sokoto State, troops of the COAS Intervention Battalion VII, supported by 8 Division elements, carried out clearance operations in Tangaza Local Government Area.

Several terrorist camps were destroyed, camouflage materials recovered, and a Nigerien national who had been held captive for over three weeks was rescued.

Security authorities described the operations as precise, intelligence-led strikes designed to sustain pressure on criminal elements while minimising collateral damage.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across the country and urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.
