President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), with effect from April 16, 2026, for an initial tenure of four years.
The development was announced in a statement issued on April 20, 2026, and signed by Chris Ugwuegbulam, Head of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The statement noted that the appointment was made in accordance with Section 5 of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act, 2015.
Dr. Zuntu, a public health expert and policy strategist, has built a reputation for implementing impactful national initiatives.
President Tinubu urged her to leverage her experience to strengthen biosafety regulation and effectively drive the agency’s mandate in protecting public health and the environment.
