Gov. Emmanuel appreciates Corps awardee with N1m 

*Promises to advance relations with the scheme

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has presented a cash gift of one million naira to the Overall Best Corps Member in the 2021 Batch “A” Stream 1 Service Year, and recipient of the State Honours Award, Miss Vivian Njokuocha, in recognition of her outstanding performance.


The Governor made the presentation at the passing-out ceremony of 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Corps members held at the University of Uyo play ground.


While appreciating the Corps members’ services to the state especially in the areas of education, healthcare and infrastructural development, Governor Udom stated that “your contributions in the implementation of government policies and programmes impacted greatly on all sectors”.


The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports and Chairman, Akwa-Ibom State NYSC Governing Board, Sir Monday Uko, welcomed the out-going corps members to the larger society and encouraged them to continue to make individual and collective contributions towards national development.


Earlier, the Chairman of the Governing Board, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs. Beatrice Udoinyang, had congratulated the out-going Corps members on the succesful completion of their service year. 


She poured encomiums on the Governor of the state for his “fatherly and friendly disposition to the NYSC and Corps members, demonstrated in the provision of camp facilities and monetary support”.


While presenting the 1,285 Corps members disengaging from the services to the governor, the State Coordinator, NYSC Akwa-Ibom State, Mrs. Chinyere Ekwe, charged them to remain diligent and good ambassadors of the scheme by :demonstrating patience, tolerance and love for their fellow country men”.


 She also appreciated the government and stakeholders for their love and hospitality to the Corps members during their service in the state.
