Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State at the weekend stormed Kaduna PDP Secretariat to canvass votes and supports of the party stakeholders ahead of 2023 election, saying the opposition party is ready to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his entourage, were former Governor Attahiru Bafarawa , former minister of water resources, Mukhtar Shagari, impeached Deputy Governor of Zamfara State , Aliyu Mahdi among other party big wigs from northwest geo-political zone .
The presidential hopeful lamented what he described as a near collapse of governance at the centre, urging Nigerians to kick out APC to save the country from a total collapse .
Tambuwal knocked APC for failing to redeem its campaign promises, recalling with nostalgia how well governed the country was under PDP, adding that Nigerians were deceived and cajoled by the current ruling party, which he noted promised electorate heaven on earth with nothing to show after seven years in power other than barrage of problems.
The former speaker House of Reps pointed out that the country had been put on autopilot with no defined policy direction other than causing havoc and hardship on Nigerians .
Former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa in his speech to party members and supporters urged electorate to rally round Tambuwal to be next president of Nigeria.
Bafarawa recounted advantages of Tambuwal to include young age , economic and political knowledge of how best to developed the country, an attributes he said were absent in the present occupant of Aso Rock .
Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Felix Hassan Hayet lent his voice to the call to allow Northwest produce the next president of Nigeria , adding that the Zone was shortchanged with the death of former president Yar ‘adua to complete her term under the rotation and zoning arrangements.
He however, sounded a caveat that he was not campaigning for Tambuwal, that as leader of the party in Kaduna he would play a dispassionate and fatherly role to all aspirants seeking one elective position or the other .
Hayet declared the readiness of the PDP to take back leadership position at the centre, calling on Nigerians to vote out APC, the party he said had failed woefully to solve the country’s problems.
