The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Alkali Baba Usman, on Thursday, appealed to officers and men of Kano state Police Command to remain steadfast in their line of duty and avoid issues that may lead to industrial crises within the force.
The IGP whose message was conveyed through the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone One, Sadiq Abubakar Bello, also commended the officers and men for their hard work and urged them never to relent in the service to their country and humanity.
The police boss frowned at rumours of purported strike by members of the rank and files and promised to ensure better welfare packages for them.
According to him, “I know your CP must have addressed you on this issue. However, I want to convey the following message of the Inspector-General of Police. First, you should be reminded that the Nigeria Police Force is a regimented and disciplined organization with laid down proceduresand guidelines for channeling grievances; and in no circumstance is strike an option.
“It is worthy of note that strike action or other forms of deliberate disruption of law enforcement services by any personnel of the NPF is tantamount to mutiny. As SUch, no personnel of the force should be found engaging in such misbehaviours, as that would mean an expression of disloyalty and indiscipline.
“Meanwhile, permit me to use this medium to highlight the efforts that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), NPM, fdc is making to provide enabling working environment for officers and men of the force:.
In his remarks, the Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samailw Shuaibu Dikko, “our sustained efforts in fighting all criminal activities in the State, in full adherence to the ethics of the Force and also, with the support of Kano State Government; other Security Agencies, NGOs, Good People of Kano State and members of the Press.
“In line with the directive from the Office of Inspector General of Police, I have lectured all officers and Men of Kano State Police Command at all levels on the need to sustain efforts in ensuring security and safety of the good people of Kano State, and also the commitment of the IGP in improving the welfare of our personnel.
“Sir, it is on record that, under your dynamic leadership style and supervision, Kano State Police Command is the most peaceful state in the region, and I assured you that, we are ever ready to maintain the tempo, Insha Allah.
“I have equally lectured the Departmental Sectional Heads, Area Commanders and Tactical Teams of the Command to warn all the DPOS; Officers and Men against joining the rumours strike action on the 26th March, 2022. Base on that, therefore I have suspended casual and annual leaves until further notice. I have warned all the Area Commanders and DPOS as well as Sectional Heads and Tactical Teams to open a register on 26th March, 2022 in order to know who may not come to work.”
