2023: New Generation group says Nigerians look unto PDP for hope

By Myke Uzendu, Abuja

A political pressure group known as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  New Generation has said that every Nigeria is looking onto the party to provide new direction for the country and rescue it from the present quagmire created by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The group cautioned the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) against godfatherism and imposition of candidates ahead of the upcoming party primaries.

The Director General of the PDP New Generation, Audu Mahmood who made the disclosure during the launch of the Operation Rescue Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday, said that what Nigerians need is to recreate hope and make Nigeria safe and united again after the seven years of maladministration of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said that there were serious burdens on the next government to be formed by the PDP and as such the party need to present leaders that have the capacity not to impose candidates on the party.

Mahmood said “in as much as we appreciate the NWC led by Sen. Iyorchia Ayu for its efforts in fostering unity amongst party members which will ultimately put the party back to its winning ways. As the party primaries draw closer, we call on the NWC to ensure that aspirants are not imposed on godfatherism basis. The primaries should be conducted with a credible election that will produce the best flag bearers at all level.”

The New Generation also called on the APC governors and all the members of the Federal Executive Council of the president Muhammadu Buhari administration not to contest any position in 2023.

He said this has become pertinent as “our nation stands on the perimeter of crisis. An astounding  calamity beckons. But this current misfit of a leadership can avert disaster if they manage the remaining of our fragile union.
“The failed leadership and governance at hand cut across every elected or appointed member of this government.

“Therefore,  we ask that all members of the Federal Executive Council and Governors of the APC who do not have solutions to the current calamities at sight and the aberration in  place – to honorably and with a bit of shame refute their plans of planning to return  or seek electoral power to continue or complete the damage they started”.

He said, “In May 29, 2023 every member of this government should join President Muhammadu Buhari and return to their respective villages. You all have done enough  damage to our today.”
