The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) yesterday, demanded for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu from detention as well as Nigeria president of Igbo extraction, as President Mohammadu Buhari plans a two days working visit to Ebonyi State.

Leader of the group, Comrade Uchenna Madu, who stated this in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Capital on Tuesday, maintained that only the release of Kanu would douse tension in the zone as well as restore peaceful atmosphere to the entire country.President Buhari is billed to be in Ebonyi State on a two days working visit, from May 5 to May 6, 2022.

MASSOB reiterated that they are not against the visit of President Buhari to Ebonyi state, but had to make these two major demands as part of their own contribution to peace as being clamoured by well meaning citizens.

The group stated, “we request from President Muhammadu Buhari to facilitate and ensure that one of the many southeast presidential aspirants succeeds him in 2023 to help the country diffuse many bottled anger which has fuelled agitations.

“MASSOB also want to remind President Muhammadu Buhari that continuous detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in DSS custody will only worsen the security challenges facing the country, it will also continue to affect the economy”.
