Infrastructure: Your successor is in trouble, Buhari tells Umahi

President Mohammadu Buhari, on Thursday told the governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi, that he has created a lot of problems for his successor following the gigantic infrastructures the governor has put in place in the state.


He said it would be difficult for whoever that will take over from Umahi to measure up with the standard he has set as regards to infrastructural development.


Buhari who was on a two-day working visit to Ebonyi stated this on sighting the magnificent Presidential Lodge built by the governor at the new Government House, Abakaliki.


Buhari commended the governor for his achievements in the state, noting, “I thank you also for associating the federal government with the construction of the projects and though I am not an engineer, I can see with my eyes what is on ground”.


He commissioned several projects constructed by Umahi at his hometown Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state.


Some of the projects he commissioned include the King David University of Medical Sciences, the university’s teaching hospital, the twin flyover and dual carriage way which passes through the university to Mpu in Enugu state among others.


Buhari also commissioned the International Market Abakaliki, and the twin fly over in front of the market.Governor Umahi during the commissioning of King David Medical School pleaded with the federal government to take over the university’s teaching hospital, stating that it was beyond the scope of any state to manage.


He reiterated that the hospital would solve the challenges of medical tourism confronting the country, as it has the best of facilities that can be found anywhere in the world. “It has a heart surgery department, the best Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) facilities, among others”, he added


The governor thanked Mr. president for his numerous assistance towards the realization of the King David University of Medical Sciences, noting, “It was constructed through direct labour by our people and the 700 metres twin-flyover which passes through the university cost N2 billion”.


Meanwhile, presidential Buhari was earlier received at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, by Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi, and some other leaders of the zone.
