Retaining presidency in northern Nigerian is national suicide – HURIWA

Leading Civil rights advocacy group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), condemned any moves to retain the 2023 Presidency in the North by PDP and APC, says parties should zone their presidential slots to the South EAST “for the sake of justice and fairness”.

HURIWA urge all political parties to follow what will retain the unity of the country and zone the presidency to south EAST REGION come 2023 BEVAUSE IGBO BEING ONE OF THE TRIPODS MAKING UP NIGERIA HAS NEVER SINCE INDEPENDENCE BEING ELECTED INTO OFFICE AS PRESIDENT. IT SAYS NIGERIA WILL HAVE A LOT OF DISLOYAL CITIZENS TO CONTEND WITH ABD NOT JUST IPOB SHOULD THE INJUSTICE OF DENYING IGBOS THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT CONTINUES IN 2023.

National Coordinator of HURIWA, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, stated this at a press conference, on Wednesday in Abuja, said the current political and security situation in the country required that power should shift to the South.

He said: “If they want the country to have stability, unity and to last longer than next year. The moments the leadership is given back to the North, so many descends minded southern will lose their mind.

“They will be disloyal to the country because the country is a country of injustice. And nobody in his right conscience will want a country that does not believe that he is a human being. Is only a fool, or somebody who does not have complete metta faculties that will trust and still be loyal to someone who doesn’t believe that you are human enough to become a president.

“So, if the worst comes towards it, let it be South, but definitely not Goodluck because he is a tool for the North, they want to use him to reduce the number of years the South we stay in power so we are telling him not to reverse what happen to Igbo in River State.

“Because our parents who had houses in the state lost all houses during the war. But my father had so many houses in the North, but they were all taken care of by Northern. After the 30 month old war, my father came back and collect the old rent and he got all his his houses back. But River state took all the housing assets belonging to Igbo people’s in Rivers.

“So, Goodluck Jonathan should not replay that hatred that they showed to Igbo after the war because if he accepts to be candidate of APC and become the president, it means he has sub changes Igbo who gets him they all.

“If he do, that the south south and South East will never have peace or trust each other for life. Because what happened to us after war in the 60s, when we lost so many housing assets, he hasn’t been forgotten. So if he tried a second betrayer by accepting APCs enticement to become President for only four years he is doing because, he wants to subchange Igbo’s,” he said.

He also warns the Igbos against supporting any presidential aspirant outside the region.

Adding that, Anybody Igbo who is supporting others region is a wilderness of lack of self worth that don’t know the right. “They don’t know what they should be talking about. Most of them are talking because of money that they have already received. A lot of them who support Northern candidate are doing that because they have already been paid”.
