Kano Central Senatorial Seat: I Am Still In The Race,  Says  A. A. Zaura

A front line aspirant of Kano Central Senatorial seat under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdul Karim Abdulsalam Zara has debunked news of his alleged disqualification from the APC primaries,  insisting that he has been fully cleared to contest. 

A. A.  Zaura, who spoke to journalists in Kano on Wednesday, through his Special Adviser, Hajiya Balaraba Ibrahim,  expressed optimism that he will emerge APC candidate after the primary election,  adding that he was also hopeful to represent his people at the Senate come 2023.

The AUTHORITY reports that Zaura had faced strong opposition as a group of people through a petition to the APC Screening Committee, challenging his eligibility to participate in the election, following alleged criminal charges against him. 

However,   Hajiya Balaraba Ibrahim, insisted that Zaura is  qualified to contest and had since been cleared by the Committee charged with the screening process.

Balaraba said, “those peddling unsubstantiated allegation against Zaura are mere political opponents bent to distract the supporters of Zaura.”

According to him,  “those playing politics with a view to destroy their opponents by mere allegation would not only fail but would be disappointed by the marginal gap of success Zaura would record at the primary.”

She described Zaura as a successful international businessman,  “who has contributed immensely on social development and community development in Kano,” vowing that the Senatorial aspirant would not be detarred by the noice of the market but remain focus of the task ahead.

Hajiya Balarabe  wondered why, “those peddling rumor of criminal trial against the senatorial aspirant, are being intimidated by his popularity, instead of them facing the primary election headlong.

” For the purpose of emphasize, the APC screening committee has successfully cleared AA Zaura as aspirant for Kano central senatorial seat. He would be taken part in the primary this weekend.

” We are aware of the petition written against Zaura. Those petitioners challenging the eligibility of Zaura simply because he answered no to a portion of question, on whether or not he has criminal trial. 

“Let me remind them that Federal high court Kano presided over by Justice Allagua has discharged and acquitted AA Zaura on the allegation of USD$1,320,00.00. And we are also aware of Appeal court judgement which ordered for re-trial of the matter but did not change the judgement of Justice Allagua.

” And it is important to also not that Zaura has also filed stay of execution which put the Appeal court judgement on abeyances and until the supreme Court determination, the Allagua’s judgement still subsist.”
