2023: PDP will return Plateau to its glory days- Barr. Mutfwang

The gubernatorial candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has promised the citizenry of the state that if given the mandate come 2023, the party will return the state to its glory days.

He equally said his victory at the just concluded primary election is a process of chasing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) out of the state and also marks “the process of reclaiming the glory of Plateau State”.

It would be recalled that Mutfwang had earlier today won the PDP governorship primaries after polling 252 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants.

It would also be recalled that Dr Timothy Golu, Chief Latep Dabang, Pastor Vincent Nanle and Mr Jack Yakubu Pam withdrew from the contest out of the 18 aspirants.

The results of the aspirants are as follows; Dapal Afred Ali 92, Dr Mazadu Bako, chief Jonathan Akuns 16, Chief Gushop Danjuma 6, Chief Dauda Gotring 88, Amb Bagudu Hirse1,
Chief Satu Jatau 9.

Others include; Nde David Paradang 4, Prof Shedrack Best 4, Alex Ladan, Brig Gen John Sura (rtd) 3, Chief Wungak Kefas 113 and Ephraim Dewa scored 0.

Our correspondent reports that 601 delegates voted in the primaries, 593 votes were valid, while 8 were invalid.

Speaking after he was declared winner, Mutfwang said, “Today the 26th May, 2022, marks the beginning of the process of chasing the APC out of Plateau State.

“Today also marks the beginning of the process of reclaiming the glory of Plateau State”, he maintained.

“This day, I feel a heavy weight on my shoulders, that you have trusted me with this leadership responsibility, to lead us first of all to victory at the polls in 2023.

“I want to trust God and assure you, that by the grace of God, we will give you the leadership you desire.

According to him, “We want to also tell the people of Plateau State to have confidence in our great party the PDP, we are ready to resume where we left in 2015.

“PDP left Plateau in a state of glory, we will continue where we stopped, and by the grace of God, PDP will not put Plateau to shame”, he assured.

Mutfwang thanked the other aspirants who contested against him, saying, “Some of the times were tough and turbulent, but today I want to say that this is a victory for all, there is no victory, there is no vanquish, we are all victorious.

“And I like to pledge here on my honour that I will gather everybody together in PDP; we will put behind us all the trouble and rancour, we have had in the last couple of years, and we will match forward to victory.

“Though some giants would be on our way to hinder, God will give us victory”, he admonished.

“And by the grace of God, we are going to make sure that we lias with the party to put up a blueprint for our campaign in 2023.

Adding that the campaign would be”robust and all inclusive, and like I said, PDP will return Plateau to glory”.

Mutfwang thanked leaders of the party in the state, saying, “It is time to unite, let’s forget the past, let’s press forward, is a mark of a higher calling that is set before us”.

He also commended the Bode Ogunmola led Electoral Panel for the job they have in ensuring a peaceful and transparent process.
