CHOGM: Buhari arrives Rwanda, to speak on climate change, securityFrom Chesa Chesa, KigaliPresident Muhammadu Buhari arrived Kigali, Rwanda Wednesday night to join other world leaders for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) themed “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”.He was received at the Kigali Airport by the Rwandan Minister of Justice, Emmanuel Ugirashebuja;  Nigerian High Commission officials led by the High Commissioner, Aishatu Musa, and some Nigerian Ministers attending the summit.Speaking on the significance of the President participating at the meeting, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said it would amount to being left behind like a pariah nation if Nigeria is missing from an important summit of over 50 countries where global issues that also affect Nigeria are  being discussed.According to Adesina, during his three-day stay, the President will “deliver keynote addresses, talk on key issues like curbing the malaria threat in Africa, post-Covid economy, security, climate change, particularly as it affects recharging the Lake Chad, via inter-basin water transfer, among others.“The theme is ‘Delivering a Common Future’, so he is going to talk around that. Most importantly, in his speech, he is going to bid farewell to other Commonwealth leaders because he is going to tell them that this is his last Commonwealth meeting as Nigerian head of state.“This is multilateral meeting, not like a buying and selling thing, but most important thing is that when leaders of Commonwealth countries and standing to be counted, Nigeria is there.”
