NASCO Group Nigeria has inaugurated a multi-billion naira cornflakes plant in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
NASCO also said the new facility in terms of technology, is cutting-edge and among the best in the world.
While commissioning the plant at NASCO Foods in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, Governor Simon Lalong, said, “NASCO has been a household name not only in Plateau State and Nigeria, but across the African continent having been around for almost six decades and identified as an icon of quality.
“Indeed, since it was established here in Plateau State by the late great industrialist Ahmed Nasreddin in 1963, NASCO has embodied the essence of its most distinguished and recognisable crown logo which symbolises Leadership, Longevity, and Loyalty.
According to him, “Without doubt, it has provided leadership among its numerous competitors and provided mentorship to many young industrialists who have admired and sometimes tried to imitate its products.
“I am confident to say that NASCO is one of the few companies around whose chronicles can be written alongside the history of our dear State and country Nigeria, especially because it bears all the hallmarks of endurance, durability, immense potential, and a unique talent for survival”, he maintained.
“In short, the company is one brand that fully embodies Nigeria’s persistent spirit”.
“I congratulate the Executive Chairman, Management and Staff of NASCO for sustaining the virtues of its founding father, the Late Dr. Ahmed Idris Nasreddin who laid a solid foundation, nurtured the company to growth and prosperity before his call to glory.
“On this very important occasion, NASCO deserves to be recognised for its loyalty to the Nigerian consumer as it has consistently been one of Nigeria’s most renowned brands.
“The secret, as we have come to discover, lies in its focus on providing a high-quality life to everyday Nigerians like you and I”, he explained.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman/CEO NASCO Group Nigeria, Dr Attia Nasreddin, said,
“Nigerian farmers help to safeguard the country’s food security now and in the future.
“However, food security in itself is futile if it does not reach Nigerian households. Through our cornflakes plant, NASCO foods have worked relentlessly to bridge the gap between Nigerian homes and the inherent goodness of Nigerian maize.
“Our Farm2Home theme is not a fancy catchphrase. To us, it is a genuine movement in which we have worked hard to ensure that every Nigerian enjoy natural benefits of cornflakes, which helps to raise the standard of living for a healthier and better quality of life”, he maintained.
“We’ve come to see the opening of our multi-billion naira cornflakes plant today. In terms of technology, this new facility is cutting-edge and among the best in the world.
According to him, “This new plant will continue to flake the richly yellow maize we use ensuring that NASCO cornflakes are fortified with vitamin A.
“We are aware of the high levels of vitamin A deficiency that have been reported in our populations; nearly 30% among children, 19% among pregnant women, and 13% among nursing mothers.
“Iam proud to inform you that NASCO cornflakes have been endorsed by the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) as an assured ready to eat cereal meal enriched with vitamins”, he explained.
“This new plant will be a capacity multiplier, allowing us to deliver high quality and affordable cornflakes with natural goodness remaining intact as they are enjoyed by tens of millions of Nigerians and sub-saharan consumers”, Nasreddin further explained.
