The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said on Tuesday that a total number of 1.479,595 Permanent Voters Card (PVCs), out of 1,955,657 registered voters have been collected as of Sunday, July 10, 2022, ahead of Saturday’s governorship elections in Osuin state.
INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure during the commissions stakeholders meeting in Oshogbo, in preparations for the governorship election
Prof Yakubu said the INEC has extended the last date for the collection of PVCs to Thursday 14, 24 hours before the election, adding that the figure represents approximately 76 percent of the registered voters.
Meanwhile, earlier, the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Abdulganiy Raji noted that sensitive election materials would arrive in Osun State on Tuesday while non-sensitive materials were already batched to Polling Unit Level and ready to be conveyed to the Registration Area Centres (RACs).
Among other candidates who were present and represented at the stakeholders’ meeting, are the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Benedict Alabi and Governor Gboyega Oyetola of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ademola Adeleke.
