The chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council Chairman (AMAC) Hon Christopher Maikalangu has urged multinational corporations, spirited ndividuals Non-governmental organizations to assist local governments were rural dwellers area resided across the country.
He appealed to them to private adequate support in areas of infrastructure and eduction across the states.
Maikalangu made the call shortly after he met with the Venezuelan ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador David Neives Velasquez Caraballor, yesterday.
Speaking to the Ambassador in his office during courtesy call in Abuja, the Council Chairman stressed that he was at the embassy to further deepen the practice of democracy and democratic practice among them just as it is expected to cement the existing mutually beneficial ties between Venezuela and the Council.
Hon. Maikalangu appealed to the Venezuelan embassy to make special provisions for the indigent and indigenous members of the Area Council in its Scholarship schemes to narrow the gaps of quota systems and admission snags experienced by indigenes of the Council across educational institutions in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by Ephraim Audu, Chief Press Secretary to the chairman, said that as a Council desirous of advancement and growth of the people in the areas of education, research and training, he sought the Venezuelan embassy’s intervention in granting scholarships and admissions to qualified AMAC applicants.
The Chairman reiterated his call on the Embassy for more intervention and consideration in the areas of social, educational and agricultural and rural development to uplift the social lives of the people.
In his response, Ambassador Caraballor, thanked the new administration for upholding the bond that exists between the two and promised to make substantial alotment of scholarships to the Area Council in the 2023 scheme in the fields of science and humanities.
