2023 Presidency: Obi is well accepted in the North- Labour Party

The Labour Party (LP) on Thursday said the presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi is well accepted in the northern part of the country, contrary to views in some quotas the he is not popular in the core northern States.

The Party said it has gone to many remote areas of the country and the citizenry are aware of the Obi-Datti presidential ticket.

This was disclosed by the Deputy National Chairman of Labour Party, Comrade Ladi Iliya, during a One Day Mobilisation and Sensitisation meeting, with critical stakeholders and LP Support Groups as well as Establishment of Link between support groups and the NLC Political Commission, held in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
Iliya said, “The essence of this one day mobilisation and sensitisation meeting is to mobilize and coordinate all Peter Obi support groups and other interest groups so that we will be speaking with other interest groups. We are not just doing this in Plateau State, we are going all over the country.

” We have the NLC political commission and it is supposed to oversee the activities of all the support groups so that we can move as a united and strong front.”

She explained that the programme will provide direction for all the supporters of Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 election and expressed confidence that he would be declared President at the end of the polls.

When asked about the support of Peter Obi in Northern Nigeria, she said, “Coincidentally I am a Northerner, by origin I am from Borno South and I don’t know whether you saw the Bikers in Sokoto, we saw some in Zamfara and these states are in the North.

“It is not just Peter Obi that is contesting, there are alot of people supporting him that don’t want to come out for fear of their lives and other harm. But deep down, this problem is eating everybody; the challenges doesn’t know whether you are from the North or South.

“That is why Peter Obi said he is not a candidate for Igbos, he is a Nigerian and because of that he has the right to run for political position as President of Nigeria as he need the support of everybody because we all go to the same market.” She stated.

The National Vice Chairman, North Central, Comrad Adi Shisha Adi described the gathering as a pathway way to wining the 2023 election by Peter Obi.

He said the Peter Obi movement placed high premium on the support of Plateau State and North Central to wining the election and noted that the zone is one of the must disadvantage in the country.

Adi noted that Obi will take Nigeria back to the people by providing a conducive working atmosphere where the economy will work and other lawful activities.

Plateau North Senatorial candidate, Barr. Gyang Zi said Labour Party has all the structures to win election in the state.

Zi noted that the mobilization and sensitization meeting has placed Labour Party on the path of victory in Plateau and Nigeria ahead of the 2023 election.
