Senator Akwashiki loses mum

The family of Abimiku Abednigo Auta Abundaga of Nasarawa Eggon in Nasarawa State has announced the death of its matriarch, Mrs. Maryamu Gbadu Abimiku, aged 95.

Fondly called “Mama Mission” because of her selfless philanthropic and humanitarian works to the community during her lifetime, Mrs. Abimiku passed on in the early hours of July 25, 2022, after age-related health complications.

As tributes poured in from far and near, Mama Mission has also been remembered for her profound Christian values and numerous efforts towards improving the wellbeing of her people in Nasarawa Eggon.

They recall that she endeavoured to see that all the children around her immediate community attended basic school, irrespective of their parents’ financial means.

“When someone or family was bereaved, Mama would be there to console them. She was a lover of the people, she was a giver and was known for always giving out to the less privileged out of her kind heart”, said her son, Engineer Samson Abimiku.

The family, in a statement, said that funeral arrangements and interment according to Christian rites would be announced later by her eldest son, Barrister Solomon Abimiku.

Although Mama Mission had the misfortune of losing two of her children – Sarah Abimiku and Rebecca Abimiku- she is survived by the following children – Mrs. Ruth Guyit, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, Prof. Alash’le Abimiku, Pastor Anne Abimiku, Pastor Esther Ibanga, Barr. Solomon Abimiku, Engr. Samson Abimiku and Mrs. Regina Uko; as well as many grand and great-grand children.
