GPMI hails Nigerian Army for dismissing soldiers for murder of Sheikh Goni

Global Peace Movement International, UK hails the Nigerian Army, particularly the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.Gen Faruk Yahaya for it’s decision to dismiss the two soldiers involved in the murder of an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Goni Aisami Gashua in Yobe State.

The Army had dismissed soldiers include Lance Corporal John Gabriel and Lance Corporal Adamu Gideon over the murder of the cleric.

The acting commander officer in charge of 241 Reece battalion, Nguru, Yobe State, Lt Col. Ibrahim Osabo, told journalists a joint board of inquiry set up in collaboration with the police had found them guilty.

In a press statement on Monday in London, Dr. Mike Uyi said the Nigerian Army has done what it’s supposed to do as an institution of discipline.

“The Nigerian Army is an institution of discipline and this shows that the Chief of Army Staff is a man that doesn’t tolerate nonsense and he is ready to clean the army by weeding out the bad elements in the service”.

“The COAS in all his interactions with the Nigerian Army troops has always encourage them to be of good behavior, discipline and dedicated to serving Nigerians as such we commend him for the justice served the two soldiers”.

“GPMI is calling on all to support the COAS efforts to sanitize the Army by exposing bad elements in the army. The bad elements in the army can also be responsible for the prolonged fight against insurgency, bandity and all other forms of insecurity in the country”.
