As part of his consultations ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, at the weekend led his campaign team to a courtesy visit to the former Minister of the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA), General Jeremiah Useni (rtd)
Adewole, while speaking at the visit expressed the commitment of the SDP towards the making of a new Nigeria, even as he noted that the party has Nigeria’s future at heart
General Jeremiah Useni, while receiving the presidential candidate and his team, charged Nigerians to vote for a credible and competent presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The former minister who was a People’s Democratic Party (PDP,), governorship aspirant in Plateau State in 2019, warned that money should not be the determinant factor in the choice of the next President for the country.
The elder statesman noted that, ” I encourage you to do the right thing, get things straight. Choose the right presidential candidate. Don’t do the right thing for material monetary value.
“My plea is that we must do the right thing. Vote wisely, vote for the right people. Vote without sentiments. Our economy is shaking, Nigeria owes 41 Trillion Naira and there’s more to be done to salvage this nation.
“The way SDP presidential candidate, Adebayo spoke, I have listened to him, he meant well for Nigerians, he has convinced me, so i hope he will maintain it.
“I congratulate you for reviving SDP. Everyone has their time, whatever you do, play your role better. Nigeria is a good country, but why are the people quarrelling?”
Gen. Useni, while pointing to the crisis rocking the soul of the major opposition PDP, noted that, “Even in my party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, when we talk now, they say we are doing anti-party activities.”
In his remarks earlier, the presidential standard bearer of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo said his party has Nigeria at heart and was determined to lift it from the present wood.
The international legal practitioner lamented that all is not well with this country because everybody seems to be grieving over one issue or the other, hence there is complain everywhere.
He told his host, (Gen. Useni) that, “Being a stakeholder and a military general, you know the differences between peace and ceasefire. Ceasefire Nigeria has gotten but is yet to get peace, this is what Nigeria will get under my watch as President.”
The presidential hopeful added that, “olutions to Nigerian’s problems have been funded but not yet accepted into our politics.
“Everything we need to succeed as a nation has been given to us but we have been running an unfair system but there is no place in this country where people don’t complain.
“We must have a government in place that will look back to correct the injustices and then put a mark not to have further injustices.”
