Chieftain of Labour Party (LP) Tim Ogwuru has reiterated that Nigerian youths are adamant about taking back the country hijacked by the old political class through the Obidient movement.
He went further to point out that attempt by some state governors to scuttle the one-million-man march organized for Peter Obi across the country has been met with equal resistance by the youths who have resolved to donate their time and resources to ensure that Peter Obi and Labour party replaces President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Ogwuru who spoke with our reporters over the weekend in Abuja also said that Security agencies should invite Minister of State, Youth and Employment to explain what he knows about the allegation that Obi is planning to fake an assassination attempt on himself.
According to the former Spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign in the 2019 general election, Nigerian youths have shown that they will not seat on the fence in 2023 as they have been patient with the politicians for too long.
He said, “The One-million-man march for Obi going on across the country is only a smoke-screen to what will happen in 2023. The youths saw in Obi a credible platform with which to take back the country from the old political class who have failed them in education, security, job creation, sky rocketing inflation, free fall of Naira, high cost of living, infrastructure and so on and so forth.
“The old order is pushing back. Over the weekend, Obi-Datti Youth march in Ebonyi State was dispelled by security agents but the youths remobilized and continued with their resolve to turn the state into an Obidient state. We expect more resistance in days to come and in other states but those young people are not relenting.
“The message from Obi is gaining traction among the youths. They have taken time to dig into his past, his simple life style, his achievements as former governor of Anambra State, his escapades in the Corporate Nigeria and they see in him the way to the future of their dreams.
“Nigerians want to hear what a person aspiring to be the next President has to offer, how is he going to deal with unemployment, how is he going to deal with inflation, how is he going to reactivate the economy, how is he going to raise the image of the country in the international arena”.
Ogwuru explained that the Obi-Datti campaign will not be based on insults and unworthy statements but will focus on ideas, telling Nigerians the programmes it has lined up to tackle the various problems in the country and transform the economy from a consuming to producing economy. He said that Obi is bringing new ways of playing politics into the arena which is politics of ideas and character tied to verifiable previous records and achievements with clear implementation details. He said that the way politics was played in the past has not helped the citizens and explained that Obi is determined to change the scenario.
He dismissed the statement by Keyamo that Obi is plotting to fake an assassination on himself, describing him as an agent of the ruling All Progressives Congress who will not mind going to the gutters to please his pay masters.
He said “I do not blame Keyamo because he is being paid to do that kind of job and I don’t have issues with that but I have issues with somebody of that status, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria allowing himself to be used to actualize the inordinate ambition of his pay masters. I wonder why a Senior Advocate of Nigeria will be making an unsubstantiated allegation, and that puts to question his status as a SAN.
“The security agent must be seen to be protecting everybody more so the ones who are high profile politicians including Obi. It is the work of the police to gather intelligence and act on it.
“Since Keyamo seems to know what the Police does not know, he should be invited by the police to substantiate his claims. He should be able to come out with details of the plans on how Obi will fake his assassination or kidnap. This is a very weighty allegation which should not be swept under the carpet” Ogwuru said.
He further said that police will be failing in their duty if they are not protecting all Nigerians especially the politically exposed persons.
