Igwe Anigbogu commends Soludo on road project on Amansea

The traditional ruler of Amansea kindom Igwe Peter Chukwuma Anigbogu, has described the flag-off of the rehabilitation of the 26km Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Awba Ofemmili road project as a welcome development, noting that the road project, when completed, would bring good fortunes for the entire people of Awka North.

Igwe Anigbogu while commending Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo,
noted that people from the area have been subjected to various forms of danger while plying the route.

The traditional ruler expressed happiness that the road project would be executed on dry stone base, saying that such implied that the contractors had carried out extensive research on the topography of the area to ensure the durability of the road when completed.

He expressed confidence that the Soludo Administration would open up rural communities simultaneously, saying that such would bring about the evacuation of food from hard to reach areas in order to guarantee food security in the state for a more prosperous Anambra in line with the vision and mission of the governor.

On the usage of foreign contractors, the traditional ruler attributed such to the failure of some local contractors to deliver durable and standard road projects, noting that Prof. Soludo might not like to take chances in delivering quality and durable roads to Anambra people.

He disclosed that the Amansea Community also needed government intervention in the provision of potable water as it was difficult to get water in the area.

Contributing, the President General of Amansea Community, Mr. Christian Ughanze, recalled that during the governorship campaign, Prof. Soludo, after his attention was drawn to the state of the road, had promised to carry out an extensive rehabilitation if he emerged victorious and noted that the flag-off of the road project was in fulfillment of the promise he made to the people of Amansea, Awka North and generality of Anambra State.

He described the governor as the solution which the people of Anambra State earnestly sort for. He expressed optimism that the foreign contractors engaged for the execution of the project would adhere to the specification developed to ensure the durability of the project, saying that they were more sincere in project execution.

Ughanze recalled that local contractors before the flag-off by Soludo had been deployed to the road but he regretted that it was poorly done, saying that foreign contractors would do a better job with proper supervision.

He expressed readiness to take active part in manning the project to ensure that the contractors adhered to the specification in accordance with the pact they signed with the Anambra State Government.

In his words, ‘It is no longer business as usual. This project is not just the project of the Anambra State Government, it has become our personal project and we shall ensure comprehensive supervision to ensure that the contractors execute the project in accordance with specifications and if it is below the specifications which our dear governor spelt out today while flagging-off the project, we shall report to the government,’ he concluded.
