Civil service commission alerts of fake appointment letters circulation

By Stella Omona

The Federal Civil service commission has alerted of fake appointment letters in circulation to desperate job seekers.

The commission expressed dismay that inspite extensive media campaign to warn job seekers not to fall victims of such fraudulent actions, fake appointment letters are still issued to them.

A statement by Deputy Director, Press & Public Relations, Mr. Alaba Balogun for the Chairman of the commission on Tuesday in Abuja stressed that it is only the commission that has the constitutional right to issue appointment letters.

“On this basis therefore, the commission wishes to reteriate that it is the only constitutional body charged with the responsibility of perssionel recruitment, promotion and discipline in the federal civil service. To fulfill this mandate, the Commission works in close conjunction with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. and  the ministries/extra ministriral departments.

“It is inherently right and proper to infer that drawing from the above stated mandate of being vested with recruitment/appointment into the fedeal civil service, the commission is the only body that is legally recognized to issue letters of appointment into the service.

“To this end  the commission wishes to emphasize and make this clarion call on job seekers, especially young graduates to be wary of professional fraudsters (both on social and conventional media) purporting to be working for the commission, whose mission is only to make financial gains on their gullibility..

“The general public is being warned again to desist from patronizing this set of unscrupulous people. The commission strongly urge our young graduates to visit the official website of the commission  for authentic information and proper direction-www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng.’
