He noted that the elder statesman will be remembered for living an exemplary life that will be hard to replace, adding that his death is indeed, a great loss to the nation and the Igbo race.

“According to records, until his death, the foremost nationalist was the only surviving member of the Zikist Movement, popularly known as the ‘Boy is good” passed on at the ripe age of 93.

“He was the youngest Aviation Minister during the First Republic and died without achieving his desired goal, which was to ensure the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu after his arrest in Kenya by the Federal Government.

“The wishes of Pa Mbazulike Amechi while alive was for the federal government to grant release of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. I hereby appeal to President Mohammed Buhari to grant the wishes of the late statesman by authorising the release of the IPOB leader.

“Indeed, a big iroko has fallen in Igbo land following the death of Pa Mbazulike Amechi.

“We pray that God Almighty grant the family the fortitude to bear this heavy loss. May God reward all the good works of PA Mbazulike, forgive his limitations and bless those he left behind,” senator Anyanwu prayed
