Barely 48 hours after the closing ceremony of the annual Qur’anic recitation for the year 2022, communities in Zamfara, the state that hosted event, have continued to condemn the behaviours of the governor of the state for his refusal to attend both opening and closing ceremony of the recitation.

They also described the absence of the governor as “neglect” of not only the special event, but also of the entire activities of the state including the political ones.
The event of the year 2022 which also witnessed port urn out of the people which was attributed to the absence of the governor was also not attended by majority of the prominent personalities who used to attend.
Traditional rulers who were supposed to be at the foremost a number of them did not show up, including their chairman, all for the simple reason that the governor could not show up in person.
Many people who spoke to our reporter could not hide their sadness over the situation descring it as the most disheartening as far as they were concerned and had never happened in the history of the state over two decades of its creation.
Alhaji Lawali Saidu, a participant at the event told our reporter that he was surprised when he discovered that the governor was again not in attendance. “ I was here last time during the opening of the event officially but only few people were in attendance, which later I was made to understand that it was as a result of the absence of the governor that led to the poor turn-out of the people, so I said to my mind that may be it will be different this time from the previous one behaving that the governor will appear, but unfortunately, my expectation was not realized,” he revealed.
He also disclosed that he was made to believe and understand that the governor had not only ignored the recitation event but also the entire activities of the state adding that the governor was only there busy on how he will get his second term leaving the people in danger and abject poverty.
Also speaking Malama Luba Umar whose daughter was one of the selected reciters for this year condemned in totality, the behaviours of the governor for especially his refusal to show concern of the special event.
Luba explained that she was disappointed when she discovered that the governor was not attendance at the closing ceremony of the event. Said she, “ when we came during the opening ceremony I could not believe that matawalle will not grace the occasion like his predecessors did, but unfortunately three hours after the commencement of the whole programme and the governor did not arrive, I lost hope of his coming.”
Virtually, the refusal of the governor to appear at the event has became a topic discussion as every group of people one meets at different places will find that they were only lamenting it disappointedly.
