The Director -General, Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA), Barr. Zachary Allumaga has said that the state government was not aware of the existence of seven Internally Displaced Persons camps at Karu Local Government Area in the state.
He said the local government authority accommodated the IDPs and gave the land to farm but didn’t tell the state government of their presence.
The director -general who stated this during a parley with journalists in Lafia, however assured that the state governor, Abdullahi Sule has arranged to visit the camps mostly accommodating people of the North -Eastern part of the country who escaped Boko Haram attacks.
Our reporter also learnt that the displaced persons have beans farms as well as other cash crops, while some non- governmental organizations have established schools in the area for their children to attend.
