More than two hundred people,most of whom were the rural dwellers of Ahani-Achi community in Oji Riverlocal government area,were on December 30,treated to free medical check up and on the spot medication of some illness,while the acute ones were referred to specialist hospitals.
The person behind the largesse Engr.Chukwudi Ihudiebube and family said the gesture is his own style of ensuring that their people are sustained with good health so as to be able to go to the polling booths and cast their votes during the 2023 general elections.
He said campaign gifts by donors must not be limited to face caps, T-shirts and other materials things,stating the idea of the electorates staying alive and healthy enough,is a critical factor that must not be ignored if Nigeria must eschew the problem of voter aparthy in the 2023 general electioned.
His words,’My free medical check up and at the spot medication is solely ‘A HEALTH-FIRST CAMPAIGN INITIATIVE’to motivate our people for unflinching solidarity and to show case our illustrious candidates for the forth coming 2023 general elections’.
Engr Ihudiebube disclosed that the health initiative is most especially geared towards motivating his community to vote for the PDP governorship candidate, Dr Peter Mbah, Engr Osita Ngwu gunming to become next Enugu West senator on the platform of PDP, Engr.(Dr) Anayo O nwuegbu, the PDP candidate for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency and Hon Jeff. Mbah,also of PDP,gunning to represent Oji River constituency in Enugu state house of assembly for a second term.
He revealed that with the support of his wife,they gained the sympathy of some volunteer doctors and other medical personnel from Enugu to Achi for the one day exercise,which took place at Achi Agu model health center, Ahani Achi.
He said the cost of the drugs, transportation and accommodation for the health personnels,including their stipend was bankrolled by his family.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Engr Ihudiebube and his family. They called on other spirited well meaning citizens to emulate the gesture.
The PDP candidate for Aninri/ Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency,Engr(Dr)Anayo Onwuegbu, who was the special guest of honour appreciated the initiative, extolled the state government efforts in rural rural health care,and promised to do the needful that will enhance improved health care for the rural dwellers if elected, by the grace of God.
