FRC Rates Kano High On Loan Utilization, Infrastructural Development

The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has rated Kano State among the best in loan utilization and infrastructural development.

FRC during a tour of projects executed in Kano with accessible loans expressed delight over the level of transparency in the execution of projects under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration.

The Commission also expressed satisfaction with the number of tangible projects executed with accessible loans collected by the state government, which has greatly enhanced infrastructural development.

A Statement signed by the Deputy Director of Information, Kano State Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Bashir Habiba Yahaya, indicated that, “Kano State Government is one of the best state in the country in terms of utilizing loans received for infrastructural development and other social services nationwide.”

The Statement added that: “This was revealed by the officials of Fiscal Responsibility Commission during a fact findings visit to the projects executed with the loans.”

According to the Statement: “The newly appointed Kano State Director General, Debt Management Office, Malam Salisu Lawan Indabawa disclosed this during advocacy meeting with Management of Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

“Salisu Indabawa also dispelled an alleged statement that says Kano State is not among 10 highest debtors states in the country which was released by Debt Management Office of the country recently.

“In his response, the State Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Idris Wada Saleh thanks Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for approving the establishment of Debt Management Office in Kano state.

“Engr. Saleh maintained that the office should embarks on enlightenment of the public on how best the government is managing the little resources to provide needed social services to the citizens of the state.”
