Political stakeholders from Enugu East senatorial district yesterday resolved to embark on drastic public enlightement programmes, engagement and visitations across the six local government areas that make up Enugu East senatorial district, with a task of selling Dr Peter Mbah.the PDPgovernorship candidate in the March 11.2023 elections, as the preferred candidate of the zone.
Enugu East senatorial district popularly known as Nkanu cultural zone comprises of six local government areas namely Nkanu East,Nkanu West.Enugu North,Enugu East,Enugu South and Isi Uzo local government areas.Amidst urbanization of several axis of the district as Enugu metropolitan city,over 70 percent estimated population of it,s indigent citizens reside in their rural communities.
The stakeholders took the decision during meeting held at the state PDP campaign office,off Nza street Independence layout, Enugu.
The Deputy Director General(Enugu East district)of the state PDP campaigns, Deacon Okey Ogbodo. said the visitation/engagement programme is meant to create more awareness that will ginger their people to vote for Peter Mbah, who is the preferred candidate of the zone, considered for his sterling leadership qualities in government businness and the private sector.
IT would be recalled that stakeholders of Enugu East senatorial district,irrespective of party of affiliation,including Chief Jim Nwobodo, Dr Ben Nwoye.the clergy,traditional rulers,on Friday,January 20,at a mega rally held at Okpare square endorsed Peter Mbah, the PDP governorship candidate as the choice of the district,out of the four major candidates In the race who are also sons of Nkanu land.
Deacon Ogbodo explained the visitation/engagement initiative will consolidate on the gains of the endorsement rally for Peter Mbah, held at Okpara square.
His words,’For obvious reasons votes are cast in the wards and most our voters reside in our rural areas, it becomes imperatve that we have to visit, engagage and convince our people on why they should cast their votes for Peter Mbah in the Enugu state govermrship election and other PDP candidates running for the other elective positions’
‘The fact that the other three candidates of the three major partes are also our brothers apportions no blame to any body. However it is our responsibility to familiaise and interface with our brothers and sisters. why Peter Mbah remains our best choice and for Enugu state generally’,Deacon Ogbodo said.
