The National Leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has delisted staff of National Orientation Agency (NOA), non-practicing staff of Ministry Of Information and Local Government Information Officers from its membership.
The NUJ leadership took the decision while reviewing the Union’s constitution, during a Special Delegates Conference session held at Afficent Event Center, Kano.
The NUJ National President, Chief Chris Isiguzo chaired the session.
The delegates in session gave the nod that NOA staff would no longer be accorded NUJ membership.
However, NOA elected officials would be allowed to serve out their term of office.
The Special Delegates Conference also passed the new law barring members of staff of Ministries of Information, who are non-practicing journalists from NUJ membership.
Delegates in session also concurred that Local Government Public Relations Officers (PROs) should no longer be handed NUJ membership status.
