The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for Kano State, Comrade Salihu Tanko Yakasai, on Saturday, promised that the party will wipe away the tears of the masses and end the sufferings of the people if voted into power in the forthcoming general elections.
Yakasai spoke at Sani Abacha Youth Centre during the flag-off of his gubernatorial campaign and presentation of flags to abdicates vying for different positions on the platform of the party.
He recalled that PRP being the oldest party in Nigeria left a lasting legacy in Kano over 40 years ago, which residents are still enjoying today.
Yakasai promised to revive the leadership qualities of the late Malam Aminu Kano, and rebuild Kano if given the mandate to become the governor of Kano State.
According to him, PRP remains a party established on morals and integrity, with a mandate to champion the cause of the common man.
Yakasai who was flanked by his running-mate, Malam Shazali Mohammed Gargai Bebeji, regretted the current hardship in the state occasioned by the new Naira notes controversy and fuel scarcity, promising that PRP will reverse the status quo and put smiles on the faces of the people.
“We are very much aware of the hardship the masses are passing through at the moment. Vote for us. When we emerge victorious, we will change the status quo. We will ensure that you smile again,” Yakasai promised the cheering crowd.
He appealed to Kano residents to vote for all the candidates of PRP, describing them as leaders who have the interest of the people at heart.
The party’s National Organizing Secretary, Malam Mohammed Sule, presented the gubernatorial flag to Yakasai and his running -mate.
Other candidates vying for different positions also received their flags.
Hundreds of party chieftains attended the occassion, including the party’s Campaign Director-General, Dahiru Nabilisi Bako, Chairman, Advisory Committee, Alhaji Muhktar Othman, National Vice Chairman (North-West), Abba Sule Namatazu, National Vice Chairman (North-Central), Honourable Haruna Buhari, Alhaji Goni Lain Ishaq Rabi’u, among others.
The AUTHORITY reports that the event which gathered thousands of PRP supporters was peaceful and ordeely.
