Credible Elections: 80 Police Officers Trained In Kano

No fewer than 80 police officers have been trained under the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), as part of preparations to ensure free, fair and credible elections in Kano state.

The police officers passed through five-day intensive training between 15 and 19, February, 2023, at the Conference Hall, Milton Park Hotel, Nomansland, Kano.

The participants were drawn from Kano State Police Command, Zone 1 Headquarters, Kano, and the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) Wudil, Kano.

They received training on “The Role of Nigeria Police Force in Credible Election in 2023.”

Participants were drafted from the rank of Police Constable (PC) to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

Topics discussed during the training workshop included: Police and Election Administration in Nigeria, Standard Operational Guidelines and Rules for Security Personnel, Temperament Characteristics of Successful Policing, New Electoral Act.

Others were: Key Changes and Impact, Crowd Management; Risk Analysis and Evaluation,Human Right-based Policing, Concept of Peace and Conflict Resolution (The New Paradigm), Crime Prevention and Control.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Dauda, appreciated the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali Baba, for his commitment towards training and retraining of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

He also lauded the efforts of NPTF for the Training Programmes, just as he charged officers to reciprocate by ensuring quality service delivery.

CP Dauda further stated that, “this training follows a series of training received by officers of Kano state Police Command within the election campaign periods.”

He charged the participants to use the knowledge received and reciprocate the gesture by ensuring quality service delivery.
