Cash Scarcity: Kano Civil Society Forum Investigates Death Of Pregnant Woman At Abdullahi Wase Hospital

The Kano State Civil Society Forum, has expressed deep pain over the death of a pregnant woman at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Hospital, allegedly caused by Doctors’ negligence, as a result of cash scarcity.

The AUTHORITY gathered that the dead pregnant woman could not receive Doctors’  attention on time, due the delay in making cash available through transfer.

The President of Kano State Civil Society Forum,  Ambassador Ibrahim A.  Waiya, who was visibly pained by the unfortunate incident told Journalists that already,  a Seven-man investigative panel has been set up to look at the immediate and remote causes of the regrettable incident, which eventually took the life of the pregnant woman.

According to a Release he made available to Journalists, “the attention of the Forum has been drawn to an incident regarding one pregnant woman who lost her life at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Hospital, because of alleged negligence.”

He said the Forum regretted that the pregnant woman’s death was attributed to an alleged negligence of some medical personnel of the hospital, who were said to have refused to attend to the deceased, when she was in dire need of  medical attention.

“The multiple complaints and calls from different quarters and responsible citizens within and outside Kano, were too many to be ignored.

“It is therefore against this backdrop, the leadership of the Kano Civil Society Forum, approved the establishment of a seven-man committee, to investigate the alleged circumstances surrounding the death of the late Hajiya Shema’u Sami Labaran and advise accordingly,” Ambassador Waiya added.
