Police in Kano have arrested Aliyu Sani Madaki of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), over alleged possession of firearm during last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in Kano state.
Madaki was declared winner as a House of Representatives member-elect, to represent the people of Dala Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.
According to a Statement signed by Kano Police Command’s Image-maker, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in-charge of 2023 general elections in the state, Mr. Muhammad Yakubu: “Today, 1st March 2023, the Kano State Police Command under the leadership of CP Muhammad Yakubu has invited Honourable Aliyu Sani Madaki, member-elect, Dala Federal Constituency for suspected unlawful possession of a firearm.
“He is currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Kano State Police Command undergoing an investigation.”
