Polls result: PDP to stage black uniform protest at INEC today

The opposition peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it will lead a protest against the outcome of the February 25 presidential and national assembly election at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), today

The PDP had rejected the results of the election as announced by the INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu on Wednesday, which declared the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu winner of the election

Accordingly to INEC, Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 6,984,520, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came third with 6,101,533.

While rejections and criticisms have trailed the announcement of the polls result, both the PDP and LP and their canditate have filed suits in court, seeking redress

This after the agents of the two political parties had staged a walkout at the National Collation Centre, Abuja and called on the INEC Chairman to stop further announcement of results until the issues are addressed.

The PDP announced the decision to mobilize it’s supporters to protest against the election results highly n a notice, singed by Amb Ibrahim Bashir, which called on its members to assemble at the party’s campaign office, Legacy House for a protest match to the INEC headquarte

The notice directed that all supporters musts to appear in Black attire, those expected to participate in the protest include: The National Chairman, Dr Iyrochia Ayu, The Vice Presidential Candidate and Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Okowa, Governors of; Akwa Ibom and Chairman of PCC, Mr Udom Emmanuel, Sokoto state and DG of PCC, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Governors of Bayelsa, Edo, Adamawa, Bauchi, Taraba and Osun States; Former Senate Presidents, Senator David Mark and Senator Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, BOT members, NEC members, PDP Senators and House of Representatives Members, NWC members of the party, DDGs, Directors, Deputies and Assistant Directors of NCMC; Members of the PCC; Leadership of People Living With Disabilities and all other Stakeholders.
